Responsibilities:

Celanese Washington Works rests on the banks of the Ohio River in Parkersburg, West Virginia.  We are proud to be part of the Mid-Ohio Valley and we work hard every day to uphold the highest standards of safe plant operation for the protection of our employees, our environment and our community. Facility began manufacturing here in 1948. We are among the largest Celanese manufacturing facilities in the world with 6 different plants located at our 700-acre site. We annually manufacture millions of pounds of product used in various automotive, food industry, building/construction and household items.

A Reliability & Maintenance Engineer at Washington Works provides the technical expertise on all matters of reliability engineering, assessment, and monitoring for all process equipment. Carries out reliability studies on existing equipment and recommends needed improvements to Operations management in the areas of equipment philosophies, strategies, and best practices for asset productivity. This position is the "go to person" for all matters of equipment reliability. This position focuses on enhancing equipment reliability through analysis along with some first response, day-to-day trouble shooting of failed equipment.

 

The Reliability & Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for:

 

Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and other reliability techniques.Apply engineering theory and practice to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures and conduct equipment performance evaluationsAnalyze equipment trends & historical data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost.Determine how process variation and equipment operation can impact equipment reliabilitySupport Area Mechanical Integrity (MI) projects, repairs, maintenance to ensure compliance with regulations, RAGAGEPs, and Celanese proceduresSupport site MI Steering Committee, including auditsPromote consistency by standardizing equipment procedures & operations within area of responsibility.Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment criteria and specifications to optimize equipment/system reliability and life cycle cost. Also provide technical support for fabrication, installation, and start-up of new critical equipment.Participate in production turn-around/shutdown teams providing input into needed equipment inspection and repair proceduresParticipate in maintenance and reliability networks, sharing best practices, successes and failures.Participate in interviewing, hiring and mentoring of new reliability co-ops and engineers.Participate in continuing education courses, professional organizations (e.g. SMRP) and reliability conferences to stay current with, and evaluate, emerging technologies.Develop reliability competency and participate in networks/forums as appropriate to maximize contribution. Qualifications:

 

Required Qualifications:

 Minimum 2 years of applicable experience; demonstrated ability to work safety and effectively as a mechanical engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university. Strong trouble shooting skills.Ability to learn and work independently.Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions including operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

Minimum 3.0 overall GPA preferredCertification in lubrication, vibration or failure analysis preferred

Downtime data analysis techniques and statistical interpretation skillsReliability analytical tools such as Weibull analysis, reliability growth plots, and data modelingFailure analysis including preservation of evidence techniquesMaintenance and reliability best practices including the work management processRotating equipment and alignment techniquesFundamental Materials Science, including material selection and propertiesLubrication, tribology, and fundamentals of interpreting oil analysis resultsVibration analysis and interpretation of vibration analysis reportsFundamentals of nondestructive testing, including thermography and ultrasoundRoot Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)Engineering design standards and their applicationCost/Capital analysis and justificationReliability Engineers are encouraged to get CMRP certified (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional)
