Reliability Engineer

Position Overview

Develops and leads strategic initiatives in manufacturing to improve process performance and machine reliability by driving the adoption of fundamental maintenance best practices and leveraging discrete and actionable reliability data. This role works closely with manufacturing stakeholders including technicians, engineers, department/site and divisional leadership and has a wide range of exposure to manufacturing sites and leaders across the organization. The successful candidate in this role will partner with stakeholders to improve manufacturing process reliability, execution of asset maintenance strategies, and cost competitiveness. Must be willing to challenge the status quo and influence others. This role is based in Dalton, Georgia and requires approximately 25% travel primarily to sites in the southeastern US.


Position Duties:

Be a subject matter expert on foundational reliability principles in areas such as power transmission, lubrication, work practices, predictive and preventive maintenance, etc. Includes areas such as vibration, thermography, ultrasound, etc. Serve as corporate administrator of shared predictive maintenance (PdM) resources including software and tools.

Collaborate with manufacturing leaders to enhance Reliability Segment Reviews, driving collaboration and accountability across similar assets and processes, targeting optimal balance of reliability, performance, and cost.

Serve as the primary advocate for capturing event-based downtime data, categorized by standard reasons, to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Assess complex reliability issues faced by manufacturing plants, applying engineering disciplines and maintenance fundamentals to provide solutions.

Collaborate with divisional reliability resources to reach alignment on highest-priority initiatives and drive results that improve our quality of earnings in residential, commercial, and turf.

Drive standardization of maintenance best-practices, focusing on most critical assets across manufacturing.

Lead, coach, and develop plant and divisional reliability resources.

Collaborate with reliability leaders on technician work practices and strategies that improve maintenance work efficiency in areas such as skills, staffing, etc


Job Requirements:

Degree in engineering and 2 years’ experience in a Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Manager, or Project/Process/Plant Engineer role OR High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years in a Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Manager, or Plant Engineer role. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred.

Must have proven communication skills and be able to influence others at all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems

Ability to assess skills and development needs of sites and individuals


Preferred skills:

Prior experience at a plant level involved with reliability activities with proven results.

Knowledge of various flooring manufacturing processes and equipment

Demonstrated success in leading initiatives at a corporate level.

Salary Grade: This job will be filled as a S06, S07 or S08 based upon the candidate’s experience.
