As the Reliability team, we are responsible for ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of product. To achieve that, we partner with multiple engineering teams from the beginning (concept) through the end (field returns) of a product lifecycle, while exploring new technologies and understanding how customers will use our products. You will develop and implement creative reliability tests on new hardware programs, quantify reliability risk, support failure analysis resulting from these tests, and advise the executive team on the best path forward. DescriptionDescriptionAs a System Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for identifying high-risk failure modes early in the design process and working closely with design engineering teams to reduce those risks. You'll create new reliability tests based on the physics of failure and anticipated user behavior, ensuring our systems meet the highest standards. You'll also develop and deliver critical test equipment and specifications, and collaborate with vendors to meet testing deadlines. Additionally, you'll support failure analysis efforts, offering design recommendations based on your evaluation of test data to drive continuous product improvements. Responsibilities: - Developing new reliability tests procedures and specifications - Preparing concise and detailed test plans and analyzing test reports - Statistically analyzing data to provide design risk assessments - Presenting tests, results, and risk assessments in a confident and positive manner to management and executive teams - Researching new technologies to understand unique failure mechanisms - Guiding design and interacting with diverse groups to improve product reliabilityMinimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Material Science Engineering and 3+ years of experience in a related field or industryExperience performing reliability testing including mechanical stress tests, shock/drop/vibration testing, environmental testingAbility and willingness to travel internationally, as neededKey QualificationsKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsPreferred QualificationsStatistical experience such as Weibull, JMP, and/or familiarity with accelerated test models that feed into test justificationsExperience with Design of Experiments, FEA simulations, and RDT modelingAbility to develop test justifications by leveraging user studies and the “voice of the customer” feedback loopFamiliar with Failure Analysis techniques (Optical Microscopy, X-ray/CT, Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, etc.), and the ability to use failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failurePrior consumer electronics experienceEducation & ExperienceEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
