Managers in the Specialty Engineering Talent Center Directorate contribute to some of our most exciting work! As the new Reliability Manager in the Special Disciplines Department, your education and experience will allow you to take on formidable challenges as both an individual technical expert and as the technical manager for the Lockheed Martin Space RAMT (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Testability) discipline.
Your primary role will include the day to day managing of subject matter experts (SMEs) on your staff who support a multitude of programs and activities across the Enterprise geographic locations and include commercial and military spacecraft, human and deep space programs, missiles, internal research and development, Centers of Excellence, training development, and other Lockheed Martin Business Areas (Aeronautics, Rotary Mission Systems, Missiles & Fire Control, Corporate). Your primary role also includes owning responsibility for the RAMT discipline technical integrity across Space, while your secondary role will be to support technical efforts as a RAMT SME as needed.
As the Space Reliability Manager, you will
• Assist Managers within the department and on programs in building a strong team of individual contributors to plan and successfully execute engineering needs across multiple programs within a geographic location.
• Partner with Managers and Technical Leaders by:
o Managing subject matter experts (SMEs) resources to support to programs, proposal, and various other needs such as surge support or participating in tiger teams as well as longer term assignments.
o Performing day to day employee management by fulfilling duties that include but are not limited to assigning work, overseeing that work and workloads, evaluating employee performance, timecard and expense report approvals, etc.
o Participating in forecasting needs, recruiting and hiring decisions
o Participate in employee development which includes career development, training, mentoring, etc
o Participating in identifying and fulfilling knowledge continuity and knowledge transfer needs
o Provide oversight and support to critical program area RAMT and Systems Engineering skills development.
o Working closely with customer counterparts through direct engagement
• As the Special Disciplines Reliability Technical Manager, you will own responsibility for:
o Setting and maintaining LM Space technical standards and supporting commonality as well as affordability initiatives.
o This support will include participating in or leading as an independent reviewer, tiger teams, proposals, and various other technical support needs
o Serving as the Space point of contact for RAMT cross Business Area initiatives
o Defining expectations for RAMT SME technical skill levels, aptitudes, and performance in order to drive the building strong teams of individual contributors to plan and successfully execute engineering needs
o Determining Enterprise training needs and orchestrating development of and delivering training to fill skill gaps
• Support the full life cycle of programs, for example, to help define the Systems Architecture, Requirements and Verification Baseline, development and flight test hardware baseline, ground and flight test planning, and design maturity milestone reviews. Support includes ensuring designs, from the component le
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience:
o Leading engineering teams or projects including technical studies and/or evaluations of engineering design concepts.
o Involving delivering artifacts to meet contractual requirements or project objectives
o With the full engineering lifecycle including the design process used in aerospace for complex systems
o With driving closure and resolving technical challenges
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• At least 8 years as RAMT SME in Aerospace industry with experience in six (6) or more of the following:
o Reliability Program Plans
o Reliability Predictions and Analysis
o FMEA/FMECAs
o Critical Items List
o Availability
o Maintainability Analysis and Predictions
o Fault Tree Analysis
o Probability Risk Assessment
o Reliability HDBKs and Standards (i.e. MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-1629, MIL-STD-1543, MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472)
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Desired Skills:
• Spacecraft and/or Missile experience in the Aerospace industry with
o 12+ years demonstrated experience in all/most facets of conduct of a reliability program to include: Reliability Program Plans, Reliability Predictions and Analysis, FMEA/FMECAs, Critical Items List, Availability, Maintainability Analysis and Predictions, Fault Tree Analysis, Probability Risk Assessment (PRA), familiarity with MIL-HDBKs and Standards, the application of probability and statistics to support resolutions regarding sample size, burn-in life testing, BIT, and failure analysis investigations.
o Demonstrated ability to lead multi-faceted RAMT SME team to communicate and coordinate work as one team with common goals.
• Application and knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and related company command media and standards
• Demonstrated experience with COTS use in Aerospace applications
• Model Based Systems Engineering
• Experience with commercial and/or homegrown reliability tools
• Demonstrated experience leading anomaly resolution teams
• Demonstrated ability to successfully interface with Customers and all levels of management
• Proposal experience
• Research and Development experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical talent and build a technical pipeline to sustain technical expertise.
• TS/SCI clearance

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $118,100 - $226,400. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
