Job Description
We are seeking experienced pharmacy technicians to join our team in the EST time zone. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing Prior Authorizations for coverage determination for a department within a large healthcare insurance company. You will either approve or deny authorizations and send them to a pharmacist for final review. This position involves handling all health plans and types of medications with minimal phone work, mostly outbound when necessary.
ResponsibilitiesTrack coverage determination requests.Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers.Approve requests based on criteria and enter decisions into the PBM system.Notify providers and members of decision outcomes.Respond to client inquiries and refer requests for specialty drugs.Contact providers for additional information.Assist with inbound and/or outbound patient or physician calls, if needed.Essential SkillsHigh School diploma or GED.Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by the state of operation.Basic computer skills.Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and data entry.Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) and Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).Familiarity with Prior Authorization processes.Customer service experience in a retail pharmacy or call center environment.Experience with prescription benefits management (PBM).Additional Skills & QualificationsNational certification through PTCB.Experience with Medicare and Medicaid insurance.Previous experience in a hospital or specialty pharmacy setting.Work Environment
This is a professional remote environment. You will be working with multiple screens and within various systems. A strong Wi-Fi connection and a dedicated office space with a closed door are required. The potential shift hours are Monday-Friday, between 8am-8pm in your local time zone, with rotating weekends every 4-6 weeks and some holidays. Holiday schedules are bid upon. Training will be from 10am-6:30pm EST. Equipment, including a computer, monitor, and headset, will be provided. There is potential for flexibility based on performance and tenure.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
