Remote Public Trust* Senior Systems Engineer/Hyper V/Azure/SAN

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our clients team for a dynamic and challenging project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various infrastructure initiatives, including Hyper-V, Azure cloud services, SAN (Storage Area Network) management, and large-scale server migration projects. This role requires expertise in virtualized environments, cloud technologies, and data storage solutions.
This is 5-6 month contract. 

Key Responsibilities:

Hyper-V Management: Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Hyper-V virtualized environments, including virtual machine creation, management, and performance optimization. Azure Administration: Manage and optimize Azure resources and services, supporting cloud migrations, deployments, and infrastructure scaling. SAN Management: Oversee SAN solutions, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting of storage arrays, ensuring high availability and data protection. Server Migration Projects: Lead and support server migration projects, including migrating servers from physical to virtual, on-premise to cloud, or data center to data center. Work with teams to ensure smooth transitions and minimal downtime. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for the systems under your responsibility, including ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and best practices. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for all systems, processes, and configurations. Provide regular progress reports on server migration activities and other project milestones. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other engineers, architects, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of IT infrastructure projects. Security & Compliance: Ensure all systems meet required security standards, with a focus on meeting regulatory compliance (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, FedRAMP) for public trust environments.

Required Qualifications:

Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering with a strong background in: Hyper-V virtualization (configuration, management, and troubleshooting) Azure cloud services (management, security, and migrations) SAN technology (administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning) Server migrations (including physical-to-virtual, cloud migrations, and infrastructure redesigns) Certifications (Preferred): Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent virtualization certification ITIL Foundations or similar IT service management certification Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Hyper-V and Microsoft Server technologies Proficiency with Azure management tools and services (including VM provisioning, networking, and storage) Experience with SAN management, including troubleshooting storage issues and optimizing storage performance Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation Strong troubleshooting skills for system outages, performance issues, and complex system integrations. Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and work well in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Veeam, Zerto, or other disaster recovery tools for server migrations Experience with Microsoft 365 or SharePoint environments Familiarity with automation and orchestration platforms such as Ansible or Terraform Experience working with federal or government contracts and environments.
