Renewable Program Development Manager

JOB SUMMARY
The Renewable Program Development Manager is responsible for the development and successful implementation of Georgia Power’s renewable program strategy and development. The Manager will represent and advocate for the Company’s positions on Renewable issues as an expert representative to appropriate external audiences including regulatory, legislative, and other stakeholder groups, and as a Company witness in in IRP and other regulatory proceedings.
The Renewable Program Development Manager provides strategic leadership for the Renewable Program Development team and leads the development of Georgia Power’s Regulatory strategy for Renewables, including the renewable portion of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).
The Renewable Program Development Manager solicits input to the Company’s renewable strategy from appropriate internal and external partners, including Power Delivery, Customer Experience, SCS, and others to develop and implement industry leading, customer-focused tariffs and programs.
The Renewable Development team has a hybrid work schedule and works in the office (241 Ralph McGill) weekly on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Effectively lead a 4-member team; create meaningful individual development and performance plans for self and direct reports by delivering effective coaching and performance management to the team.
2. Lead the strategy, design, development, and support the implementation of all Georgia Power renewable programs; oversee all aspects of program design and process development for new and existing renewable programs.
3. Actively participate in the development, filing, defense, and execution of the Company’s Integrated Resource Plan and Rate Case as it pertains to renewable programs, including providing public testimony in support of Renewable policies and programs; serve as an advocate for the Company’s position on Renewable issues to influential audiences, including the Georgia State Legislature, including existing and prospective customers, industry groups, regulators, internal partners, and other stakeholder groups
4. Interact directly with the Public Service Commission (PSC) Staff and Commissioners relating to Renewable initiatives, including program/project status, customer inquiries, and other ad hoc requests.
5. Work closely with System Planning on the development of Utility Scale and Distributed renewable generation RFPs to ensure alignment to customer needs and Company goals.
6. Lead the strategy and development of business plan evaluation for renewable products, programs, and potential renewable business models, including profit and loss projections and risk mitigations; coordinate with Customer to identify commercial business opportunities that leverage innovative renewable technologies and concepts to develop programs that add value, reduce risk, minimize revenue loss for the Company; provide support to the Customer Experience to identify potential regulatory challenges, and solutions to those challenges, in future products, programs, procurements, and tariffs.
7. Develop competitive intelligence related to renewables to identify best practices, trends in the industry, and to predict Regulatory and Legislative impacts of new strategic initiatives and programs. Effectively and accurately communicate to Company Senior Executives, Regulatory, Legislative, and Industry stakeholders, and manage external Renewable relationships, i.e., SEIA, SACE, GLSSA/APA, SREA, Southface, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Marketing, or Economics highly preferred, additional consideration for master’s degree and industry certifications.
• Extensive experience interacting with the Georgia PSC and Georgia Legislature; experience making filings for IRP, Rate Case, and certification filings / compliance filings with the PSC a plus.
• 5 or more years’ experience in program design and/or leading teams responsible for program management; experience in developing program concepts, design, and market launch.
• Previous supervisory and performance management experience preferred.
• Experience in managing broad and diverse work teams both internally and externally. Demonstrated experience working across multiple organizations to achieve desired outcomes.
• Substantial knowledge and experience in the following areas: renewable energy technologies, programs, and tariffs, renewable program development, generation planning, power delivery, system interconnection, sales/customer choice, utility rates and pricing, economic and financial analysis, customer service/billing, compliance/contract management, economic development, key account management, regulatory affairs, and PURPA.
