Our California Operation is seeking a Renewables PM/CEQA Technical Lead to support our growing energy practice, with a specific emphasis on renewables siting and permitting. This Renewables PM/CEQA Technical Lead position will be affiliated with our Irvine Office but can be a remote position. This is a unique and challenging opportunity to join a dynamic environmental consulting environment. The position will support a variety of projects and clients within our growing CA energy practice, including siting, routing, and environmental permitting for utility-scale and distributed solar, battery energy storage, onshore wind, offshore wind, and electric transmission projects throughout California. The role can lean towards either project management or technical lead emphasis depending on experience, aptitude, and career growth interests.

 

Location: California (Affiliated with Irvine Office, Remote Position Available)

 

Your Role:

·         Develop/lead environmental studies and resource analyses both independently, as a subject matter expert, and with a project team.

·         Preparing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents and conducting analyses for hydrology and water quality, water supply assessments, geology, mineral resources, transportation, hazards, air quality/GHG, or noise.

·         Serve as a Project Manager and/or Deputy Project Manager—including responsibilities to manage technical projects, engage with clients to identify new work opportunities, prepare proposals and cost estimates, establish and formulate technical approaches, and direct multi-disciplinary project teams to complete projects on time and on budget.

·         Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders.

·         Support or lead preparation and production of land use and resource permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies and jurisdictions.

·         Perform various consulting-related duties supporting the development, analysis, permitting and financial aspects of onshore and offshore renewable energy development projects. 

·         Support business development efforts including client meetings and proposal preparation.

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as environmental science, environmental engineering, geology, or a similar degree or equivalent.

·         5+ years of demonstrated work experience supporting CEQA projects, including preparing technical studies and writing IS/MNDs, EIRs, or other CEQA documentation.

·         Prior environmental consulting experience strongly preferred.

·         Experience with permitting in California preferred, including agencies such as the California Energy Commission, California Public Utilities Commission, California Coastal Commission, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and local jurisdiction land use permitting.

·         Experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process is a plus.

·         Ability and interest in working as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment with the capability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

·         Ability to prioritize and follow up on pending items.

·         Strong follow-through skills, attention to detail, and work quality.

·         Ability to act independently with project and task management roles.

·         Ability to work well with all levels of management, outside vendors, and internal and external clients. Sensitivity to confidential information is a must.

·         Demonstrated writing abilities, organizational skills, and competency with basic business computer applications.

·         Competency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required; experience with Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and/or ArcGIS is also desired.

·         Willingness and ability to travel for project work.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Master’s degree in related field.

·         Experience managing major projects with complex project teams in California.

·         Experience with energy development projects and clients.

 

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $140,000 yr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
