You are key in facilitating the smooth distribution of motors, drive units, and related information between Customer Support Representatives, Service Departments, and Parts Departments. Your responsibilities include analyzing, rebuilding, and repairing motors, motor components, and drive units for both stock inventory and special orders. By applying your expertise, you ensure that all equipment meets the required standards for quality and functionality. Your attention to detail and technical proficiency are crucial in accurately assessing and resolving any issues with the equipment. Responsibilities · Motor and Drive Unit Repair o Perform necessary repairs to motors or drive units on a time and material basis, serving both internal and external customers professionally and productively. o Disassemble motors and drive units, identifying components by part number. o Analyze the condition of components and repair as needed. o Pull parts from inventory to build motors. o Put repaired components into stock and write them up from work orders for inventory entry. · Technical Support and Inventory Management o Provide technical support to Service Technicians and customers. o Inform the Motor Department Coordinator of parts that need to be ordered for stock or special orders. · Perform any other duties as assigned or required to support the company's overall operations and objectives. Requirements All potential hires are subject to pre-employment checks which include but are not limited to background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record checks. · High school diploma or equivalent. · Ability to obtain an acceptable score on the Carolina Handling basic technician level test or demonstrate capability to pass the test. · Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform tasks such as rebuilding drive units, understanding gear backlash settings, and bearing preload adjustments. · Solid understanding of DC electricity and basic motor operation. · Proficient in operating various equipment, including Engine Lathe, Bridgeport, Surface Grinder, Commutator Undercutter, Drill Press, and Abrasive Cut-off Saw. · Demonstrated strong desire to exceed customer needs and provide complete satisfaction. · Must possess strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in work. · Organizational skills, listening skills, and the ability to acquire necessary skills as needed in the position. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, visual acuity is necessary to read documents, schematics, and equipment displays. This role operates within a shop/warehouse setting with frequent exposure to oil, grease, and dirt, as well as extreme seasonal temperatures, and vibration. Occasionally, the role may entail working in elevated conditions, encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals, and facing the risk of electric shock. There is potential exposure to hazards related to equipment movement and harmful chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed. Noise levels typically range from moderate to high.
