Device Repair Technicians perform surgical instrument and/or device inspection, repair and refurbishment in a lab-based setting. You will be utilizing small hand tools, power tools, microscopes, etc. to perform this work. This role delivers superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards, as part of a high performing team.

 

This role will be based out of our Chesterfield, MO Repair Lab. The work hours for this role are Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm

What you'll do as a Repair Technician:

Perform basic to intermediate level repairs of surgical devices/instruments and equipment to specifications. 

Identify problems within the job role and use standardized testing procedures, examine and test mechanisms for defects, replace or repair defective parts, and request parts from stock room. 

Reassemble surgical devices or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications. 

Meet fundamental troubleshooting in role. 

Identify risks and issues and escalate timely and effectively. 

Adhere to Standard Work Instructions (SWI). 

Aware of and conform to Company ISO goals and objectives and support ISO requirements. 

Complete workplace organization audits and safety observations per site requirements. 

Abide by all Company safety, health policies, and procedures. Use personal protective equipment, as required. 

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:

Required:

High School diploma or GED

2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 1 year of experience at STERIS; all experience must be verifiable.

Relevant experience may include hands-on repair, assembly, or product testing and use of small hand tools is a plus. Small engine repair, cell phone and electronics repair, testing, or re-builds, carpentry, circuit board assembly and repair, sterile processing, industrial sewing, and jewelry repair. Maintenance, construction, and automotive repair can also be relevant to this role.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and push instrument carts ranging from 10-150 pounds at times.                                                                                                        

Must be able to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours and sometimes outside normal business hours including nights and weekends, based on Customer and business needs.

Related certifications in technical or mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards experience requirement.

 

Preferred:

Experience with solder, brazing or other fine mechanical applications is preferred.

Vocational / Technical Degree preferred.

Certifications in technical training preferred.
