KOLR 10/FOX 49 in Springfield, Missouri is hiring a Reporter. The ideal candidate should have the ability to enterprise relevant, compelling, and impactful stories. Our next Reporter must have a passion for storytelling and a desire to dig below the surface. We do live shots every day and we travel where the stories are happening. Working in the Ozarks, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to cover breaking news, severe weather, and other developing stories

Duties & Responsibilities:

Report news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of eventsBuild network of sources to help KOLR 10/FOX 49 News to stay ahead of its competitorsPitch stories of interest to the entire audience, while also understanding the importance of targeting specific members of that audienceResearch topics, vet tips for credibility and relevance, gather information for possible broadcast and publicationArrange and conduct interviews with a Photographer who will shoot video and edit packagesReview copy for accuracy, style and proper grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial direction and guidelinesPromote teamwork and maintain attitude of cooperation and collaboration with all station personnelInteract frequently with viewers/users on social media platforms to build engagement and brandWork on special projects and other duties as assigned, including community service initiatives

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experienceFluency in EnglishExcellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad lib when requiredMinimum experience in a newsroom or a focus on news reportingConfident on-air presenceAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslySocial media expertise, proficiencyMust learn all current newsgathering technology, including video cameras, editing equipment and newsroom computer systemsValid driver’s license with a good driving recordFlexibility to work any shift
