Repossession Specialist
Objective: To coordinate the repossession of and timely disposal of property that serves as collateral on company loans and leases. To control delinquency on outstanding leases two or more months past due and to collect the outstanding balance on lease receivable items.
Description:
Works accounts at every stage of delinquency through charge-off
+ Controls every stage of delinquency on outstanding lease accounts by providing specialized counseling to current and/or past due members and co-makers.
+ Determines reasons for delinquency and establishes equitable repayment arrangements, processes refinances of loans or leases.
+ Recommend loan extensions, new loans, or refinancing to members and the Credit Committee.
+ Remains alert to situations and patterns of activity which indicate fraud and, when fraud or forgery s suspected, refers accounts to Supervisor, Specialized Collections.
+ Responds to inquiries from members, dealerships, insurance companies, state and local governments, and other areas of company concerning lease accounts.
+ Investigates and resolves problems related to abandoned property, damaged vehicles, impoundments, and misapplied payments.
+ Evaluates the member's financial situation and determines the best approach to resolve the delinquency; recommends and assigns delinquent lease accounts for repossession.
Coordinates the repossession process
+ Reviews member file to ensure proper documentation is available (e.g., lien recorded title, promissory note, etc.) before assigning property for repossession.
+ Selects repossession agents, negotiates feed for repossession, and coordinates delivery to location of sale.
+ Communicates to members, co-makers, and/or join owner all aspects of the repossession process.
+ Records all collection, repossession, activity, or member related contact.
+ Remains familiar with payment methods available to members (e.g., direct remittance, recurring deposits, Western Union Quick Collect, SpeedPay, etc.); works out a payment plan, refinance, or payoff of the account for members who want to redeem the vehicles after repossession.
+ Recommend accounts for charge-off.
Coordinated the sale of repossessed property
+ Determines the best method to sell the property (e.g., auction, private sale, advertisement).
+ Oversees the timely sale of repossessed property to keep storage fees to a minimum.
+ Evaluates repossession agent reports, market data, and repossession process expenses to determine the best sale price of property.
+ Initiates the sale of property; receives and recommends approval of bids on property.
+ Negotiates sale price with buyers, wholesalers, dealers, and other purchases to maximize income and minimize losses to the institution.
Ensures compliance and proper documentation for all processes and expenses related to repossessions
+ Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and all policies and procedures regarding repossessions and disposal of collateral.
+ Remains informed and complies with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (15 U.S.C. 19620), state consumer protection laws, and regulations.
+ Maintains records or repossessions and produces reports for management.
+ tracks all expenses insured during the repossession process and reconciles all expenses with general accounting.
Work Environment – this position is 100% onsite in Winchester, VA

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
