UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) is seeking a full-time Research Project Coordinator to assist with a funded SAMHSA research project. This position will follow a Monday through Friday, daylight schedule. The team operates from two locations: the primary site at the Center for Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency Services (CPCDS), Addiction Medicine Services (AMS), located in Suite 900, 3501 Forbes Ave, and the secondary site at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, Program and Evaluation Unit (PERU), 5607 Baum Blvd. The role requires travel between the two research sites, as well as to McKeesport and Mercy Hospitals’ detox units. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-person and remote work, with occasional in-office attendance as needed.
The Research Project Coordinator will manage and support the day-to-day operations of the research project. They must be able to work independently and ensure compliance with research protocols. The role involves close collaboration with both the UPMC WPH and PERU teams, reporting directly to the Principal Director (PD)/Investigator (PI) (Douaihy) and the PERU team.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in a health-related field such as public health, nursing, or psychology, along with proven skills in project management, including participant enrollment, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate should be able to work well both independently and as part of a team, while demonstrating leadership skills when necessary. Comfort working in a clinical environment and interacting with patients is required, as well as training in addressing health inequities in ethnic and racially disadvantaged populations, particularly related to substance use and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing and managing all aspects of the project in accordance with protocol specifications Coordinating participant recruitment, tracking progress, and developing strategies to boost response rates within targeted populations Monitoring project timelines, ensuring progress, and assisting the PD and PERU team in tracking developments, including implementing necessary changes under the PD’s direction Supporting quality assurance for data collection and management, including ensuring proper data flow, entry, verification, and security, as well as maintaining project databases and confidentiality Preparing and submitting regular progress reports for the research sponsor
