Job Description
Design, construct, assemble, test, calibrate, modify, and install existing and newly developed specialized equipment and systems using blueprints, sketches, and schematics. Develop and evaluate the performance and reliability of test equipment. Determine the types and number of tests to be performed on equipment, recommend modifications to testing equipment, and analyze results. Instruct laboratory support staff in construction and modification techniques. Develop time and cost estimates, material requirements, and methodology, and order materials and supplies. May set up and operate machinery, hand and power tools, and other equipment for the fabrication, testing, and modification of instruments, equipment, components, and systems. May oversee support staff and perform additional functions incidental to research and development technicians.

Working conditions include occasional safety risks, multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines, emergencies, or time pressures. Regular sustained concentration is required, as well as considerable physical effort or a high degree of a fine finger or hand dexterity. The role may involve overtime, weekends, and travel.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00
