In addition to the base salary, this position includes a Competitive Area Differential (CAD) salary additive in the amount of $1248.00 annually for eligible counties. Candidates who live and work in Broward, Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties may be eligible for CAD.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is a Research and Training Specialist and serves as a curriculum developer on the Curriculum Development team within the Learning and Development Office. This position serves primarily as a designer for online, instructor-led, and blended learning projects, using instructional design principles. In doing so, the incumbent will be expected to use e-learning software such as Articulate, Captivate, and Power Point, to include interactive elements such as audio, video, quizzes, and scenarios. This position uses images and design principles to enhance the content of courses. Research and Training Specialists are responsible for maintaining current knowledge in the field of instructional design, as well as consulting with Subject Matter Experts (SM Es} and other principals or customers. In addition, this position's responsibilities include maintaining curriculum updates and projecting/managing timelines for multiple, complex projects, as well as conducting needs assessments and providing support for evaluating training. Participation on training teams is also required as many projects involve multiple designers. Finally, the position contributes to improving customer service, product quality, and efficiency to include conducting analyses and developing curriculum and associated projects, in multiple formats.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of current trends in instructional design and/or adult learning fields. Knowledge of principles of effective design for Online Training (OLT) and Instructor Led Training (ILT) projects. Knowledge of graphic design principles. Knowledge and skills in written and verbal communication. Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and specialized design software (Articulate, Captivate, Photoshop, Storyline, etc.). Skill in developing and presenting curriculum. Skill in developing engagement and knowledge-transfer activities. Ability to apply theoretical concepts (adult learning theory, ISO principles) in real-world training scenarios. Ability to interact effectively with others and maintain working relationships. Ability to work on multiple, complex projects. Ability to prioritize work tasks. Ability to problem-solve effectively and develop work solutions based on needs assessments or other materials.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will also be given to applicants who have experience:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience developing curriculum and/or adult training materials. Experience using eLearning software such as Articulate, Captivate or Power Point to develop courseware. Experience managing multiple complex projects.

 

Job Related Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel up to one week at a time. Occasional evening/weekend work when travel is required to training sites.

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview. Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
