The Research Applications Administrator (REDCap) is responsible for oversight and management of REDCap and related research applications. The administrator will oversee the implementation, operation, and optimization of REDCap, while ensuring the quality and security of the system. The administrator will also develop and implement a strategic vision for REDCap technology and services with the support of our engineering and project management teams. Collaborating with stakeholders, the REDCap Administrator translates research needs into technical solutions, manages data-related projects, and ensures compliance with data management standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering clear communication and comprehensive documentation of intricate concepts and challenges related to applications, interfaces, and workflows throughout the organization. This role requires independent decision-making and problem-solving on moderately to highly complex issues with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Functions:
REDCap Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for REDCap, overseeing user access, security settings, and system configurations. Stay informed about updates and new features in REDCap, implementing changes as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to REDCap
Project Oversight: Lead the planning and execution of REDCap projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and research objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and customize REDCap solutions accordingly.
User Support and Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for research staff, focusing on REDCap usage, data entry, quality control, and reporting. Act as the primary point of contact for user inquiries, troubleshooting problems, and providing timely solutions.
System Management and Maintenance: Partner with research applications engineers to oversee regular system updates, backups, and troubleshooting to maintain system integrity. Manage data integrity checks, workflow design, and system upgrades to ensure seamless data collection and access.
Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with data management standards, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) in the context of REDCap projects. Stay informed about changes in relevant regulations and implement necessary updates.
REDCap Project Consultation and Support: optimize research databases, including the design of complex data entry forms and surveys, use of automation, modules, and APIs to enable advanced REDCap functionality.
Monitor the performance of the database systems and identify bottlenecks and performance issues and make adjustments to optimize performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred)
2 years of experience as a REDCap administrator (required)
3 to 5 years of experience in research data management (preferred)
The applicant should have a working knowledge of all the main features of REDCap including: System configuration, User and project permissions, Auditing, Project creation and management, Database and eDCF design, Automations, Reporting Tools, Longitudinal studies, Administering multiple environments (e.g., DEV and PROD), REDCap Mobile App and MyCap, External modules (SMS/Texting, MyCap, FHIR EHR Application, etc), REDCap API
Strong project management, communication, and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge and application of project management methodologies preferred.
