**Job Summary:**
The Core Research Assistant I performs intake services for the scientific research core facility. Under supervision, set up, conduct experiments, and continue research projects following protocols including the appropriate recording of data and reporting of standard or variant results. Assist in other laboratory and research functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform intake functions for the research core lab’s product store.
+ Receive and log products shipped from vendors.
+ Stock core shelves with store inventory.
+ Provide to individuals utilizing the core information about core products and services such as: minimum requirements for services, costs, product availability and location, etc.
Under supervision, provide order fulfilment and product delivery services.
+ Follow core procedures for order fulfilment from receiving requests for core’s products or services to assisting with billing and filing completed orders.
+ Perform and oversee delivery services by picking products purchased by core users and delivering these items to individual research laboratories.
+ Physical requirements: routinely lift boxes (≤ 30 lbs) and walk while pushing a cart with research products for 3-4 hours during the workday to deliver items throughout VUMC Campus and connected buildings (no outdoor exposure or vehicle driving required).
+ Some computer and iPad skills (Microsoft Office, email, scanning documents, and ability to complete forms within a web browser like Google Chrome).
+ Ability to communicate clearly with core users, coworkers, and supervisors, understanding scientific terminology and units of measure.
+ Follow VUMC/University safety protocols (such as secure computer use, safe handling of combustibles or toxic materials, and safe operation of lab equipment).
Prepare core self-service equipment and offer basic guidance to core users.
+ Equipment may include a plate reader, quantitative real-time PCR instruments, and documentation/imaging systems.
+ Maintain and repair equipment according to manufacturer and university guidelines.
Ensure efficient core laboratory operation.
+ Maintain product store inventories.
+ Keep core equipment ready for users.
+ Provide courteous reliable delivery services.
Maintain daytime work hours with some schedule flexibility, no weekends required
