The Research Assistant 2 will provide scientific and lab management support for the joint Xiao-Li lab in the Department of Chemical Physiology and Biochemistry. Scientific support includes, but is not limited to: bacterial protein expression, quantitative PCR, mammalian cell culture maintenance and experiments, buffer preparation, molecular cloning, live and fixed cell imaging, western blot, animal experiments. These experiments will be performed under the supervision of PI, who will also provide training for the new team member to handle these tasks proficiently. Lab management support includes, but is not limited to: ordering reagents/supplies, organizing reagents/supplies, maintaining lab stocks, participating group meetings, and report writing. This position description is not intended to be all inclusive, and additional responsibilities will be assigned by the supervising PI.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's in relevant field OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experienceAbility to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats.
Ability to work both independently and with others in a positive and productive manner.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point,
High level of self-motivation and integrity.
Organizational skills and careful attention to details to satisfactorily perform job duties.
Ability to prioritize work assignments and cordially coordinate use of research equipment and laboratory space with other staff.
Preferred Qualifications Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology or related field.1-year research experience outside of the classroomGeneral knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, protein expression, cloning, mammalian cell culture
Experience with making laboratory solutions and keeping experimental records.
