The Research Assistant at the Brown School of Public Health (SPH) joins a vibrant team supporting the State and Territory Alliance for Testing (STAT) Networks. STAT connects state-level Covid-19 command officials and federal leaders to collectively identify and resolve challenges and information gaps brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and other public health issues through weekly calls. The Research Assistant assists with synthesizing, summarizing, and sharing best practices discussed during each call. Current topic areas include COVID, the opioid epidemic, misinformation health equity, STI’s, and other public health issues. 

The Research Assistant works closely with the Associate Directors of the STAT Network. The diversity of projects STAT team members have exposure to makes this position  non-traditional with varying responsibilities. While many tasks are rapid-response in nature, the work is principally project-related, including note taking during weekly STAT sessions/calls and internal team meetings, synthesizing notes from weekly STAT sessions and events into key takeaways, managing participation data from STAT Network sessions, and supporting the Associate Directors with planning STAT sessions. 

The Research Assistant interacts with remote consultants or team members, is very involved in project communications, conducts structured interviews, and develops reports and presentations. This individual works as part of a team to compile and analyze information using a variety of statistical software applications. The position also performs additional related tasks as necessary. All tasks may be performed independently and/or without direct supervision in an on- or off-site location.

Education

Required:  Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) with 1 year experience in health services research (or related field). Coursework in related fields can substitute for experience. 

Experience

•  Experience with healthcare data, medical literature review

This is a hybrid position.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 12/31/2024  which may be extended based upon available funding.
