Job Summary 

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is hiring a Research Assistant at the Queen Lane Campus.

Essential Functions 

The Research Assistant will contribute to the scientific research by performing experiments, recording results and analyzing the resultant data. The RA may also provide support to the lab by coordinating tasks, providing organizational support, training new personnel, ordering reagents and maintaining general laboratory records.

Required Qualifications 

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. Please review the  Equivalency Chart for additional information.   Minimum of a year of experience in related field. Experience in Cell Culture, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, RNA extraction and other molecular biology techniques is required. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree. Experience in primary neuronal and astrocytes culturing will be preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

Typically sitting at a desk/table. Typically standing, walking.

Additional Information 

This position is classified as a non exempt grade F. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 14.10 to $ 21.15 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
