CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (FIELD ENUMERATORS)


Promoting Results and Outcomes through Policy and Economic Levers (PROPEL) Health is a USAID-funded project awarded to Palladium. PROPEL Health aims to improve the enabling environment for equitable and sustainable health services, supplies, and delivery systems through policy development and implementation; adequate, predictable, and sustainable health financing; enhanced government stewardship, transparency, and accountability; and use of evidence-based advocacy approaches at global, national, and subnational levels to promote best practices. In Ghana, PROPEL Health will focus on the following broad results areas:

Improve accessibility, accountability, affordability, and reliability of quality FP/RH and integrated services, supplies and information through sustainable, resilient, and context-responsive policies.Optimize adequate, predictable, and sustainable financing for health services, supplies, and information to meet program needs and promote equity and quality.Improve the environment for government stewardship, accountability, and transparency, and Ensure evidence-based advocacy approaches are used to promote and implement best practices in health policy, financing, and governance.

To ensure the effective implementation of Ghana’s Family Planning (FP) benefit package under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), assessing its performance and the clinical quality expectations associated with these services is crucial. PROPEL Health Ghana in collaboration with research consultants/academics from the schools of public health of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, the University for Development Studies and C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences is pleased to announce a call for applications for temporal positions as data collectors (field enumerators). These data collectors will be deployed to selected districts for a limited period to assess the Performance of the NHIS Family Planning Benefit Package and Its Clinical Quality Expectations in Ghana.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

This post is the first part of a larger mixed methods PROPEL project assessing the Performance of the NHIS Family Planning Benefit Package and its Clinical Quality Expectations.  The data collectors’ primary responsibilities on this project will be to assist with the field data collection in selected districts and health facilities across six regions of Ghana (Volta, Eastern, Ashanti, Central, Northern and Upper East regions). 

Scope of Work:
Data collectors will attend mandatory trainings prior to field work, be tasked with field data collection (Quantitative and Qualitative) in assigned health districts and health facilities and prompt reporting. 


Required Qualifications:

To be selected to contribute to this project, data collectors should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in public health, global health, medicine, social science, anthropology, or a health-related field (Essential). A graduate degree (Master’s) will be preferred.

Knowledge & Experience:
•Previous experience of primary data collection 
•Experience in conducting a quantitative and qualitative interview (Desirable)
•Experience in using data collection software or Kobo collect toolbox (Essential)

Skills & Competencies:
•Fluency in English (Essential)
•Strong written and oral communication in English (Essential)
•Strong record-keeping and data handling skills (Essential)
•Computer savvy
•Experience with data collection software like Kobo collect toolbox (Desirable

Duration of Assignment:
•The assignment is expected to commence on [insert start date] and conclude by [insert end date], subject to the timeline of the research project.

Deliverables:
•Regular progress reports during the data collection phase.
•A final report summarizing activities, challenges, and preliminary observations related to FP services.
