Research Assistant
Lab Technician:Grow and analyze bacterial cultures.Perform molecular biology tasks such as PCR, plasmid and genomic DNA extraction, RNA extraction, restriction digestion, and agarose gel electrophoresis.Support a team in setting up insect bioassays, which involves direct handling of arthropod pests of agriculture.Maintain flexibility and agility to support various tasks as needed in the lab.Essential SkillsAt least 6 months of experience in an industry setting in molecular biology, specifically with DNA/RNA extractions and PCR.Bachelor's Degree required.Basic sterile technique.Hands-on experience with general molecular biology techniques and sterile techniques related to bacterial culture maintenance.Proficiency in standard computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior exposure to fungus or fungi is helpful but not required.Ability to follow established protocols and assist in developing new protocols.Experience working in a laboratory environment with safe work practices, including handling bacteria and hazardous chemicals.Ability to lift and move items up to 30 pounds.Strong motivation for continuous learning.Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, to accommodate time-sensitive experiments.About Actalent
