Research Assistant
Job Title: Research AssistantJob Description Join our Discovery In Vitro Screening Team (DMPK) where you will engage in cutting-edge research in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role involves working with biological samples and utilizing both biology and chemistry skills to process and analyze data from in vitro studies. The end product of your work will be critical data that helps identify trends in biological samples. Responsibilities + Work with biological samples such as plasma, blood, urine, and feces from both human and animal sources. + Maintain and grow various cell lines to prepare for assays. + Perform cell counting, sterile techniques, seeding cells onto assay plates, and harvesting plates. + Conduct extractions and run stability assays, protein binding assays, and enzyme inhibition assays. + Operate and maintain equipment such as Mass Spectrometry (Mass Spec) and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS). + Assist in life team processes by running basic wet chemistry techniques including pipetting, plate reader operations, liquid handlers, and centrifuge use. + Handle animal study samples in test tubes, performing tasks from dosing to sample extraction and analysis. + Manage a varied daily schedule that includes data analysis and running laboratory tests. Essential Skills + B.S. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related Life Science field with 4-5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2-3 years of experience. + Experience in mammalian cell culture, cloning or plasmid transfections, qPCR techniques, and working with various cell lines. + Proficiency in sterile techniques and aseptic techniques. + Experience with wet chemistry techniques, including Hamilton robotics, Mass Spec or LC-MS, UV-Vis plate readers, cell counters, pipetting, and liquid handlers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience running assays such as stability, protein binding, and enzyme inhibition. + Industry or academic experience in either biology or chemistry. Work Environment You will be working in a busy lab environment within the Metabolism In-Vitro team. The lab operates in a non-GLP/non-regulated setting, handling high volumes of compounds for screening and analysis. The team collaborates closely with the in-life team, which allows for a dynamic and variable work schedule. The lab focuses on both discovery and development metabolism, offering a unique opportunity to be involved in the entire study process from start to finish.
