Posting Number NONAC3494 Job Title Research Assistant Position Title Research Assistant Position Type Number of vacancies 1 Salary Department Neurobiology Position Summary The Research Assistant will provide support in the planning, coordination, and execution of research projects in the field of medical science. The individual will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other team members to conduct laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and assist in preparing research reports and publications. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in clinical or laboratory research and who is seeking experience in a medical research setting.
Skills:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and statistical software (SPSS, R, etc.). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with research methods, including data collection and analysis.
Work Conditions:
The position may require working in laboratory environments or clinical settings. Some lifting and manual labor may be required to handle lab equipment. The role may involve exposure to biological materials, chemicals, or clinical settings, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection & Management:
Assist in collecting and recording research data from clinical trials, laboratory experiments, or surveys. Enter data into research databases and ensure data quality and integrity. Perform basic statistical analysis under the guidance of the PI. Assist in maintaining logs of lab equipment usage, test samples, and reagents.
Laboratory/Clinical Work:
Assist in conducting laboratory tests, experiments, or other procedures related to the research project. Prepare samples for analysis, which may include centrifuging, aliquoting, or freezing specimens. Follow established protocols and ensure all work adheres to safety guidelines. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper use and storage of materials.
Literature Review & Research Preparation:
Conduct literature reviews to support research activities. Assist in preparing study protocols, proposals, and applications for Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with other researchers, clinicians, and lab staff to coordinate efforts and troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth project operations. Communicate research findings in regular meetings or reports. Assist in the preparation of research publications, presentations, and reports.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule participant appointments, maintain documentation, and track project timelines. Handle correspondence related to the research project and assist with grant applications as needed
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in biology, or a related field. 2-4 years prior experience in cell culture and molecular and biochemical experiments, including PCR and western blot.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or medical school training is preferred. Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) or Human Subjects Research is a plus.
