Job Title: Research Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a Research Assistant for laboratory work with a focus on biology, specifically in-vitro studies using test tubes. The role involves working with biological samples such as plasma, blood, urine, and feces from both animal and human sources. The goal is to analyze data and identify trends in biological studies.

ResponsibilitiesWork with biological samples, including plasma, blood, urine, and feces from both animal and human sources.Cross-train in both biology and chemistry aspects of the business.Maintain and grow mammalian cell lines for assays.Perform cell counting, sterile techniques, seeding cells onto assay plates, and harvesting plates.Conduct extractions and run various assays.Support the in-life team by processing samples using wet chemistry techniques such as pipetting, plate reading, liquid handling, and centrifugation.Run stability assays, protein binding assays, enzyme inhibition assays, and operate Mass Spec and LC-MS.Handle studies from start to finish, including dosing, sample collection, and analysis, using cell lines, blood, or plasma.Manage variable day-to-day tasks, including data analysis and running tests.Operate in a fast-paced environment, performing tasks such as plating and running assays.Essential SkillsBiology, biochemistry, cell culture, cell biology, aseptic technique, sterile technique, chemistry, wet chemistry.B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related Life Science degree.Experience with tissue culture/cell culture, aseptic technique/sterile technique, pipetting, biological samples, PCR, LC-MS, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography.Additional Skills & QualificationsB.S. degree with 4-5 years of experience or a Master's degree with 2-3 years of experience in the industry or academia.Biology lab experience in mammalian cell culture, cloning or plasmid transfections, qPCR techniques, plating and growing cells, sterile techniques, and working with various cell lines.Chemistry wet lab experience with Hamilton robotics, Mass Spec or LC-MS, UV-Vis plate readers, cell counters, pipetting, liquid handlers, and running assays such as stability, protein binding, and enzyme inhibition.Work Environment

The work environment is a busy lab setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00
