The Korstanje Lab is seeking a Research Assistant in Bar Harbor, Maine.
The focus of the Korstanje lab is to study the genetics underlying kidney
disease and aging. For our ongoing studies, we are looking for an RA1 or RA2 level technician.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain mouse colonies; set up specific breeding strategies.Colony management using CLIMB.Drug treatment of mice using gavage, IP injection, tail vein injectionKidney phenotypingTissue collectionsDNA isolation and genotypingDocument experiments in LabGuru.Perform established ELISAs and other routine lab tasks
Skills and Abilities
in written form.Ability to demonstrate effective mental concentration, visual attention
and dexterity.Ability to interact with all individuals in a productive, professional and
positive manner to enhance the outcome of the goals of the research
program.Established understanding of good safety practices and a
demonstrated history of safe conduct.Proven ability to organize time effectively and work under time
constraints, meet deadlines and prioritize work.Ability to work flexible shifts (evening/weekend/holiday).Regular, reliable and consistent attendance.
Although we try to keep this at a minimum, the RA1 is required to work
flexible shifts that may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
depending on the demands of the research and/or laboratory operations.
The RA1 works under direct supervision of the Lab Manager.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Pay Range: $18.22 - $28.93
