What we want The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as a member of the IBT-Center for Translational Cancer Research team. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s Degree in biology, cancer, animal science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment. + Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position. + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. + Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s Degree in biology, cancer, animal science or related field. + Experienced in handling rodents and maintenance of rodent colonies. + Experience performing tissue processing and histological analysis. Job Responsibilities: Experiments + Conducts experiments and technical procedures: carries out research problems. + Research literature in relation to possible procedures and experiments. + Modifies procedures to suit the particular research needs. Experimental Procedures + Maintains rodent colonies. + Administer treatment. + Monitor treatment responses. + Conducts rodent-based studies, such as biopsy, tissue harvesting, and treatment. Data Analysis + Prepares data for analysis and prepares samples. + Obtains original research results. + Organizes and maintains inventory and equipment used in the lab. Meetings + Participate in lab meeting within the center and other departments; participate in joint projects involving the laboratory team. Writings + Assists in writing and/or edits for publication scientific material requiring academic knowledge. + Researches and catalogs reference materials requiring understanding of subject matter theory.
