Responsibilities
The Spine Biomechanics Laboratory at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking a motivated individual with a strong interest in surgical treatments of the human spinal column and the methods used to evaluate these treatments biomechanically including the application computational modeling. This position will support efforts at the entry level to create anatomically correct and validated computational spine models for test simulation. Specifically this individual will support the needs involved in creating validating and evaluating computational models of the spine including data collection processing and management of simulation data.
We are looking for an individual with strong interests in science medicine spine surgery and ideally with previous research lab experience and an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Become proficient in using software tools and statistical analysis packages to describe analyze interpret and present data.
• Contribute towards preparation of proposals for funding final reports abstracts publications and manuscripts as requested.
• Collaborate fully with staff team members collaborators and surgeons to brainstorm and design novel studies and experiments related to computational modeling of the spine.
• Work to support various lab projects and the development and application of computational spine models.
• Commitment to professional conduct and institution core values and mission at all times including representation of our team and organization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Technical
• Bachelor’s degree with laboratory/research experience a strong plus.
• Proficiency with basic computer software (e.g. CAD Excel). Computer programming skills (e.g. C++ C#) a strong plus.
• Strong technical proficiency. Ideal candidate has knowledge of or ability to learn solid mechanics and mathematical descriptions of 3D motion.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Administrative
• Ability to manage projects and resources to meet project goals and timelines as needed.
• Willingness to sometimes work outside regular hours as needed to accommodate completion of study phases.
• Strong organizational interpersonal verbal and technical writing skills.
• Highly self-motivated with ability to work trouble shoot and solve problems independently.
• Simultaneously able to follow direction as/when needed.
General
• Professional mature attitude; conveys team and organizational values in daily activities and decision making.

Qualifications
Exposure to laboratory techniques appropriate to those executed in the multidisciplinary medical laboratory. Science background must be applicable to type of lab position applying for.Bachelor's degree
