Yes Duties and Responsibilities The Muller Lab at Cellular and Molecular Physiology (CaMP) at LUC is looking to bring on a new Research Assistant to join our team. The start date will be Spring 2025, with ideal start date of May 1, 2025.
The mission of the Muller Lab is to deepen our understanding of cardiac cyclic nucleotide cell signaling and physiology, using cell-based systems and animal models. Our research focuses on hemodynamics in normal healthy state to pregnancy to heart failure states. Our lab is a space where exciting discoveries are made, while supporting the individual and scientific growth of every member. We value integrity, pursuit of the truth, camaraderie, and creativity. Utilize Individual Development Plan using SMART goals Participate in one-on-one Meetings with PI Participate in formal discussions with the lab as a group Perform other duties, as requested.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Bachelor’s Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience. Qualifications A BA/BS in a discipline within biology or related field with grit, creativity, honesty, and motivation with minimum one-year commitment. 1-2 years of work experience. Post-bac research experience in basic biology or related field
Skills the individual will develop in the lab include:
Logical and reasoning skills. Effective communication. Critical evaluation of data and research articles Basic-to-advanced laboratory skills encompassing cell to animal physiology (cell isolation and culture, FRET and calcium/sarcomere imaging techniques, protein and DNA assays, open-heart surgery in preclinical models, rodent husbandry and surgery including mouse and guinea pig) Additionally, the individual will receive customized mentoring to consider and achieve their professional goals using various strategies: Certificates/Credentials/Licenses N/A Computer Skills Standard office suite and specific research software as used by the lab. Supervisory Responsibilities No Required operation of university owned vehicles No Does this position require direct animal or patient contact?
