Research Assistant II, Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY
The Research Assistant II (RA II), compared to a Research Assistant-I, will provide a higher level of support, exercise increased decision-making, and lead initiatives on all phases of research and evaluation projects to include: conducting and documenting literature searches, contributing to proposal and methods development, designing implementation methods & data collection, data analyses, and report writing.

The RA II will collaborate with and report to the Project’s assigned Principal Investigator, Director of Research/Evaluation or Evaluator as assigned to specific projects. RA IIs will take the lead on project coordination or direction activities/logistics and implementation. The RA II will support the research team on outreach and will as assigned take the lead on community engagement and outreach/data collection activities.

The RA II will increasingly work towards activities and contributions to projects that are commensurate with team member status, transitioning into the level of Research Associate and eventually approaching that at the level of Co-investigator. 

The Native American Health Center is an accredited institution and adheres to the standards of excellence set forth by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Research, Evaluation and Data
a. Support activities relating to identification and development of research projects.
b. Develop & document methods, conduct and document results of literature searches
c. Use results of literature searches to then draft sections of research proposals to be submitted for funding or manuscripts for peer reviewed publications.
d. Document and organize research protocols, methods, and processes.
e. Develop and bring preliminary data collection and community engagement activities/methods to the research team for review.
f. Work with Principal Investigator and Evaluators on data analysis plans/methods.
g. Coordinate and lead some data collection and community engagement activities
h. Conduct data collection and data entry
i. Develop capacity and expertise using research tools (e.g., Qualtrics, SPSS, Excel).
j. Consult on appropriate practices, norms, and protocols for working within urban Native American communities.
k. On behalf of the Principal Investigator, initiate and take the lead on sections in Institutional Review Board applications and amendments.
II. Project Coordination/Management and Community Engagement
a. Work with Principal Investigators and Evaluators to develop/coordinate and implement research protocol.
b. Coordinate community engagement and Community-based Participatory Research approaches.
c. RA IIs will take the lead on design, organization, and documentation of monetary research incentive distribution and protocol to include Qualtrics and Tango account methods and protocols.
d. Partner with Principal Investigator to coordinate and lead research team communications and events with collaborating organizations and external research collaborators (e.g., CDPH, funders, academic journals, consultants and co-investigators).

e. Work with NAHC Media Team on requests to support research methods (e.g., participant recruitment & dissemination of results and publications).
f. Setup and conduct or participate in trainings and classes for staff and community members to support ongoing research projects.
III. Knowledge Translation – Reports, Publications, Conference Presentation
a. Work with Principal Investigators, Evaluators and Project Directors on reports and manuscripts for peer reviewed publications. (RA II will be co-authors per general rules of authorship on publications).
b. RA IIs will take the lead on developing/writing abstract submissions for conference presentations.
c. Collaborate with research team members on presentations for conferences, workshops and NAHC meetings.
d. Support and coordinate team activities relating to reports, publications and conference presentations.
