DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics at Emory University invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor in the field of human virology. The successful candidate will possess a doctoral degree and at least five years of experience in virology, molecular biology and/or immunology. This position will be primarily focused on studying flavivirus and coronaviruses, developing infectious clones, performing in vitro and/or in vivo assays, and performing immunological and virological assays.
Applicants with experience in these areas will be given preference. The appointee will be expected to engage in active and collaborative research with both basic scientists and clinicians within the department and the broader university community.
Key responsibilities include the continued development of new research lines in animal and human virology, as well as the pursuit of independent research projects. The faculty member will also contribute to the expansion of laboratory objectives through activities such as grant writing, publishing research findings, and overseeing the mentoring of staff, fellows, and students.
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in molecular biology, virology, and/or immunology and will have a demonstrated track record of success, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals. This position is specifically designed for a highly motivated individual seeking to establish an independent research career. A key mission of the laboratory is to support the professional development of postdoctoral fellows, assisting them in achieving independence in their own research careers.
