Research Assistant Professor
University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Biochemistry and Biophysics **Salary Range or Pay Grade** 32,240.00 - 500,000.00 **Description** The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics Research has an opening for a Research Assistant professor. Research directed toward understanding how Candida albicans, a major fungal pathogen of humans, develops clinical resistance to drugs from echinocandin class. Specifically, the research will focus on genes that promote adaptation to drug that precedes acquisition of clinical resistance due to specific mutations in the gene FKS1. As clinical resistance evolves in multiple steps, the genes involved in these steps are of critical importance for understanding how resistance evolves, as well as for identification of new drug targets. We will build out our lab’s identification and characterization of 15 genes residing on chromosomes 2 and 5 that are either positive or negative regulators of Candida albicans susceptibility to echinocandin drugs. **Qualifications** PhD and substantial record of publication/research experience/conceptual knowledge in the study of _RNA and_ protein biochemistry, including mammalian-cell transcriptome-wide and proteomic-wide data acquisition and analysis. **Application Instructions** _If you already have an Interfolio account, please sign in to apply to this position.
