Summary:  

A full-time Research Associate position is available in the lung pharmacology laboratory at Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine, led by the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. Specifically, the lab focuses on themes of lung biology, corticosteroid resistance, glucocorticoid signaling, cytokine networks in lung cells and precision medicine (Durham A et al., Curr Pharm Des. 2011). The lab uses a wide variety of approaches and models to study glucocorticoid signaling, lung cell biology and pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression. This role involves supporting studies and experiments in the laboratory, including western blot analysis, DNA and RNA isolations, PCR, qPCR, and cell culture in addition to maintaining a detailed daily experiment log, overseeing reagents inventory, ordering supplies, and contributing to general lab management and organization.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Conduct western blot analysis. 

Execute DNA and RNA isolations, PCR, and qPCR. 

Perform cell culture.

Maintain a daily experiment log. 

Manage reagents inventory and general lab management tasks. 

Order supplies and assist in day-to-day lab operations.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including preparing meetings and taking minutes.

 

Qualifications:  

Preferred previous experience with cell culture, qPCR, and/or western blot. 

Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot for optimal experimental conditions. 

Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Proficient in multitasking, time management, and organization. 

Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures. 

Competent in data collection and analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis, inventory and supply management, and budget management. 

Strong work ethic, hardworking, flexible, detail-oriented, dependable, and a team player. 

 

Education and/or Experience:  

Master's degree in Biology or related life sciences and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of research experience.

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Glassboro, New Jersey west campus, 22 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine plans to admit its first class of DVM students in 2025, pending accreditation approval.
