Research Associate – Phenotyping Specialist

As a Research Associate (RA), you will be a key contributor for a variety of activities at the Champaign Research Center, a multi-crop/multi-function facility. You will play a key role in supporting all projects at the research center through activities including experiment planning, data collection and analysis, nursery activities, sample collection, and field operations.

What You’ll Do:

Collaborate with staff to summarize results of experiments, note problem areas during data collection, and recommend actions. Lead in site safety culture and ensure adherence to safety standards. Always uphold Corteva Agriscience Core Values. Effectively communicate with growers, coworkers, key customers and management. Ability to operate agricultural research equipment. This includes tractors, planters, sprayers, forklifts, and research combines. During critical times, like planting, flowering and harvest; weekend work and overtime will be required for the success of the research program. May manage and direct the work of temporary and seasonal employees. Contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment. Provide support for other research projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or scientific field with 0-4 years. Experience in agronomy, Biology, Plant Breeding or a scientific-related field. Will consider Associates Degree in agriculture and 3-5 years’ experience.

What Skills You Need:

Technologically Savvy: Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs and capacity to learn new technologies and software. Handling of large volumes of data will be required. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Results Driven: Self-motivated with ability to initiate and see projects through completion. Detail-oriented, strong time management and organizational skills. Safety Oriented: Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices Team player: Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and also ability to work independently to achieve team goals. Physical Requirements: Will be required to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying ergonomic environments. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds. Utilize expertise to develop a leadership role within activities. Additional hours and weekends during seasonal peak periods Ability and interest to obtain Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA if needed. Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and ability to drive truck/trailer combination (Corteva-CMV)
