The University of Miami is currently seeking a Research Associate 1, SOM (N) to work at Soffer Clinical Research Center in Miami. The incumbent supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                                                                                                         

Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.

Participates in the publication of significant results.

Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.

Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.

Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.

Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.

Operates and maintains laboratory equipment. Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.

Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

Provide manual-guided counseling (Recovery Guide counseling) to participants assigned to ICC-MOUD.

Responsible for using active learning approaches to engage participants in learning about opioid use disorder, MOUD with buprenorphine, and the role of MOUD in treatment and recovery.

Responsible for engaging participants in behavioral change, making use of tools from the Recovery Guide toolkit to help participants develop short-term, achievable, critical goals and objectives and develop with the participant-specific Recovery Plan Agreements to achieve the objectives.

Tracking the participant’s progress in implementing the plans and achieving the objectives and working with the participant to revise the plans as needed to increase success in accomplishing the objectives.

Responsible for documenting recovery guide sessions with participants and other related research documents.

Follow up on visits, remind participants about upcoming appointments, and schedule assessments in advance.

Identify specific, individual needs and steps the participant can take to support their sustained recovery.

Participate in all required in-person and remote trainings and meetings.

Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and protocol adherence. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Experience:

No prior experience required

Experience with opioid use disorder preferred
