The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of RNA extraction and RNA library preparation (RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, MeRIP, ribosome profiling). Cloning, expression, and protein purification. Conducting biochemistry experiments, including protein activity assays, protein-RNA binding affinity determination, and kinetics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. Responsibilities may include driving research project by performing RNA extraction and RNA library preparation (RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, MeRIP, ribosome profiling). The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop collaborative and independent research programs related to RNA, co-supervision of students, and research staff, coordinating NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators, and participation in writing grants, reports, and manuscripts.
