Job Title: Research Associate

Job Description

The Research Associate will execute experiments designed by senior scientists, aligning with the team to interpret results. This role involves cross-functional work with commercial operations and hands-on lab execution of studies. As Research Associates progress, they will gain more independence in designing and interpreting results. The position is primarily lab-based, with 80-90% of the work conducted in a lab environment.

ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute projects in the Product Development team, including transfer of product concepts from internal research teams or external technology partners.Develop concepts for transfer and launch implementation in collaboration with the Laboratory Operations team.Read and comprehend peer-reviewed literature, collaborate with colleagues internally and externally on focused projects.Document plans and results within notebooks and formal documents within the Quality Management System (QMS).Assist with applied research and development, including daily management and performance of established laboratory test processes.Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing laboratory operations.Develop and optimize procedures for human specimen sample preparation from tissue, cells, whole blood, plasma, and serum for diagnostic assays.Plan and execute early feasibility, verification, and validation within the Development and Operations teams.Serve as a technical resource within the laboratories as required.Perform experimental setup, including assisting with data analysis using appropriate statistical software packages.Analyze data and prepare technical plans, reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analysis.Maintain competence in relevant on-market tests and be available as testing personnel in Laboratory Operations as required.Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, patent preparation and review, and presentations at national and international meetings.Monitor work to ensure quality and maintain CE compliance.Essential SkillsProficient in laboratory handling of human specimens, including whole blood, tissue, and cells.Excellent laboratory technical skills with various molecular and pre-analytic techniques, including sample preparation, PCR, NGS, and mass spectrometry instrumentation.Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office software and common statistical analysis tools.Ability to comply with established testing procedures, laboratory safety procedures, HIPAA, analytic, interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills.Ability to generate peer-reviewed publications and participate in scientific journal clubs.Competency in Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment.Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as a Research Associate.Degree in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in genomic and proteomic technologies.Experience in cross-training in different technical skills.Competency in developing plans and reports within a Quality Management System.Ability to deliver technical presentations on projects.Detail-oriented with the ability to execute studies at the bench without cross-contaminating.Effective communication skills and ability to ask the right amount of questions.Work Environment

The work environment is primarily lab-based, with 80-90% of the work conducted in a lab. The role involves working on impactful projects that affect patients' lives, with one of the fastest turnaround times for NGS tests on the market. The team is strong and supportive, with ongoing training provided to supplement key skills. The work involves compliance with various regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, NYS CLEP, ISO, and other applicable state and regulatory governing authorities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.46 - $31.15
