Job Title: Research Associate / Senior Research Associate - Microbiology
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Research Associate (RA) or Senior Research Associate (Sr RA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology biology, with specific experience in both fungal and bacterial growth. This position requires a high level of technical skill and attention to detail, particularly in aseptic techniques and documentation processes. The role involves a blend of unique processes and techniques, including some manufacturing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct GLP and clinical research activities.
+ Grow and maintain various types of fungi and anaerobic bacteria.
+ Document processes using pre-approved documentation methods.
+ Perform aseptic techniques to ensure contamination-free cultures.
+ Engage in some manufacturing processes as required.
+ Handle sequencing tasks (e.g., Sanger sequencing) to identify bacteria.
+ Utilize digital PCR for antibiotic resistance testing.
+ Collaborate with team members in clinical ICD development and food science.
Essential Skills
+ 2-4 years of industry experience for RA; 4-7 years for Sr RA.
+ Degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or biochemistry (not biotechnology).
+ Proficiency in aseptic techniques.
+ Experience in culturing and plating various bacteria and fungi.
+ CFU enumeration and microscopy skills.
+ Basic molecular experience, such as PCR explanation.
+ Experience working with BSL-2 pathogenic bacteria.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with PCR/qPCR platforms.
+ Fungal experience, preferably pathogenic but open to environmental fungi.
+ Knowledge of nucleic acids and DNA isolation & quantification.
+ Familiarity with ISO standards, particularly from a manufacturing perspective.
Work Environment
The position is on-site with flexible working hours (typically 8-5). While weekend work is generally not required, there may be occasional need for an hour of work. The role offers an opportunity to work with advanced technologies such as digital PCR and molecular skills. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
