Position Summary: The Assistant Director provides guidance and directs students to resources on campus regarding personal, social, academic, financial and career concerns that may be a barrier to their student success. The ideal candidate would be able to balance maintaining high-energy levels with students as well as professional relationships with units on campus to ensure student success. Duties & Responsibilities: + Utilize data to proactively identify and outreach to students with academic needs, and faculty who are teaching high challenge courses + Develop a holistic individualized plan for success and implement proactive strategies focused on student academic success and persistence for students in academic success coaching + Aid students in navigating appropriate campus resources, groups, services, workshops, and activities based on their individual needs + Develop curriculum for the College Reading and Learning Association accreditation for tutors in Learning Support Services + Research and follow up on student barriers to ensure concerns have been addressed or resolved; provides timely intervention as necessary + Assist with facilitating programs, initiatives and services that support academic success and retention + Assist in the hiring and retention of undergraduate tutors, graduate assistants, and work study desk assistants + Maintain good working relationships with faculty and staff across campus + Participate in cohort activities with academic service centers across campus + Teach FYE courses + Participate in annual professional development offerings + Other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Works well with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills • Exercise strong time management and interpersonal skills • Effective oral and written communication skills • Retain a high energy level for encouraging/mentoring college students • Ability to navigate university systems and processes • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships involving respectful communication and behaviors with other units on campus • Working computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook • Ability to generate, interpret, utilize and present data analysis and reports • Ability to understand, interpret and apply complex rules, regulations, and procedures General Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as requested and/or needed Regular and reliable attendance Other: Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M.
