About the Opportunity:
The Annenberg Institute’s research teams bring together education leaders and researchers to solve pressing educational challenges, with a specific focus on the educator workforce, professional learning, student learning acceleration, higher education, and student engagement. Drawing on the complementary expertise and earned trust of partners, we seek to improve student and school experiences through stronger use of data and evidence while producing research that has impact on a national scale.
Responsibilities:
The Research Associate will work directly with Annenberg Institute faculty such as Drs. Lindsay Page and Christopher Cleveland to advance a range of ongoing research projects related to educational opportunity and higher education policy topics.
This position requires a strong independent work ethic, interest in education, ability to collaborate with the research team and external partners, commitment to equity, and quantitative research skills. Candidates must possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community as part of an organization that centers equity in its work.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in education, economics or related social science fields and 1-2 yearsof research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; master’s degree preferred• A strong quantitative background• Experience in Stata (or other software like Python or R) to analyze data• Strong interest in education research• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
Competencies:
+ Experience with data management and statistical analysis
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines
+ Excellent judgement and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
+ Skills with Google suite apps
+ Skill/competency with statistical software (e.g., STATA, R, python), econometric training
+ Substantive higher education, special education, text-as-data and / or education policy knowledge
Additional Information:
This is a fixed term position with the possibility of renewal annually. This position is contingent on funding.
