Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our new research laboratory at NYU School of Medicine as a Research Associate. Our team will be focused on physiological and environmental factors that regulate mammalian stem cells in the context of early development, adult-stage regeneration, and disease.
The successful candidate will contribute to a project focused on Major focuses of the lab include gastrointestinal biology and maternal – fetal medicine; areas that we model in both animal and in vitro organoid models. In the Research Associate role, the successful candidate will conduct independent basic science experimentation under the mentorship of a senior scientist.
For this work, they will generate and test hypotheses, design experimental methodologies, record and analyze results, and convey findings during lab meetings and contributions to publications. They will also support additional projects in the lab, providing an opportunity to develop core competencies and to gain exposure to a range of scientific directions. Individual is expected to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.
Job Responsibilities:
After a period of time working in the laboratory the candidate will be expected to train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in experimental design technique and performanceGenerates hypotheses and designs and performs experiments to test themExecutes multiple experiments simultaneously over time independentlyRecords all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook analyze and interpret experimental findingsBased on results independently suggests and tests modifications to protocolsPrepares figures and diagrams for presentations and publicationsCommunicates results and collaborates with other professionals in the labDemonstrates a significant level of intellectual input into the design of the projectPresents findings at lab meeting responds to challenges and participates in exchanges of ideas to advance the scienceReads and understands relevant scientific literatureContributes to the preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to the submission of same for publicationParticipates in the editing and proofing of grant proposals annual grant reports and manuscripts for publication and recommends modifications to the Principal InvestigatorMinimum Qualifications:
College graduate with a BS or BA in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior research experience in a laboratory setting Prior training on basic laboratory skills such as pipetting technique
Prior exposure to animal research including in an educational setting
Advanced computer processing skills such as prior experience with graphing software Adobe Suite and/or other software relevant to biological research
Highly organized; proficient at note/record keeping and organization Excellent oral and written communication skills
High level of professionalism Great team player with the ability to work alone and with others
Ability to adapt as the lab grows and changes and responsibilities evolve
Basic computer processing knowledge including file management and use of Microsoft Suite Word Excel Powerpoint or equivalent software
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $44,371.60 - $$49,819.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
