Position Summary The School of Packaging at Michigan State University has an available position for a research scholar. This role provides a valuable opportunity for candidates seeking advanced training and research in the field of packaging dynamics, covering areas such as multi-axis transportation vibrations, shock, stack stability, and cushion response to impact, among others. Required Degree Doctorate -Civil, Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Minimum Requirements + Focus on solid mechanics and/or dynamics/vibrations. + Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python programming. + Experience in Finite Element Method modeling and analysis, and familiarity with Abaqus and Ansys software. + Familiarity with Machine Learning. + Proven track record of published peer-reviewed journal papers. Desired Qualifications + Familiarity with the mechanics of packaging structure, such as corrugated paperboards and polymer foams. + Knowledge of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems, Signal Processing, and Composite Mechanics. + Practical experience in lab experiments and familiarity with universal testers, DIC, vibrometers, shaker tables, and accelerometers. + Advanced knowledge and experience of machine learning + Insight into fluid mechanics.
