Summary

The Dunne Lab in the Department of BioEngineering at Moffitt Cancer Center combines expertise in cell therapy, biomaterials, drug delivery, immunology, and medical imaging in order to develop novel cancer treatment strategies. The lab’s primary research focus is engineering micro- and nano-scale drug carriers for the purpose of controlling immune cell phenotype in order to alter the immunological state of the tumor microenvironment and ultimately enhance the efficacy of cell therapies for the treatment of cancer. Understanding temporal changes in whole body and intratumoral distribution of cell therapies and drug carriers is fundamental to this research. We are further interested in understanding the effect of externally applied stimuli (e.g. radiotherapy and/or hyperthermia) on the distribution kinetics of therapeutic agents.
