Research Associate I
This individual will provide laboratory support, perform experiments, collect and analyze data on in vivo studies to investigate gene therapies for rare genetic diseases. Activities will include assessment of protein expression, tissue pathology, and disease phenotype in animal models of neuromuscular disorders. Additionally, the individual will participate in the development of new molecular assays.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Assists in conducting experiments at the direction of scientists, performs general tasks and routine laboratory functions using a variety of assay formats such as molecular cloning, nucleic acid and protein purification, Western blot, PCR, and histological analyses.Performs general laboratory maintenance and helps to maintain a clean and safe working environment while ensuring compliance with GCP/GLP guidelines.Participates in adopting and implementation of new technologies and laboratory techniques to improve quality and robustness of sample analysis.Assists in training new employees on technical procedures as assigned in standard methods, practices, procedures, and equipment operations.Troubleshoots routine technical challenges and contributes to their resolution.Maintains compliant laboratory records, consistently and accurately documents all laboratory activities in laboratory notebooks and internal technical reportsPerforms other related duties as assigned.

Desired Education and Skills: 

 B.A. or B.S. degree in biological sciences or related field with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting.Knowledge/experience of protein and nucleic acid quantitation, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, gene expression analysis, qPCR, and other molecular assays.Knowledge of muscle biology or neurobiology is a plusAbility to execute sample handling and analysis with strict adherence to laboratory methods and SOPs.Proficiency with computer productivity software (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).Strong math-based reasoning, problem solving and data analysis skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and to make a difference in the lives of people through our innovative medicines

This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States.

The targeted salary range for this position is $57,200 - $71,500 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
