Research Associate I

 

SUMMARY:

Ionis is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Drug Substance Manufacturing team as an entry-level Research Associate I working in a collaborative large-scale GMP manufacturing environment. Job duties will focus on synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides, preparation of GMP solutions, operation, cleaning and troubleshooting large-scale equipment, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support manufacturing. Additionally, the individual will participate in safety trainings, act as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and be able to respond to any on-site emergencies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work in a GMP cleanroom environment and comply with quality regulations Operate large-scale, computer-automated equipment in the GMP synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides Clean GMP equipment and tanks Author, revise, and execute SOPs, automated methods, and batch records Formulate intermediate and buffer solutions Participate in safety trainings and as an Emergency Response Team (ERT) member Initiate projects and manage multiple assignments and tasks, establishing inter-department communications to monitor expectations and timelines Safety- focused and willing to work with hazardous chemicals and pressurized equipment Exhibit the qualities of an energetic, positive, self-motivated, hands-on professional with strong work ethic Maintain productivity and efficiency both independently and with a team in an intense, data-driven, interrogative environment

REQUIREMENTS:

S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field 0 – 2 years of GMP industry experience Oligonucleotide manufacturing experience a plus Comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and respirator HAZWOPER certification a plus Ability to work extended hours with frequent standing, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) Proficient in MS Office applications with Unicorn, Veeva, LabWatch, and process control software a plus

The pay scale for this position is $68,640.00 -$89,319.00
