Summary of Job Duties:The Research Associate I/II/III will perform specialized tasks to complete the taking, preparation, and completion of samples submitted for histomorphometry and imaging evaluation. This position will perform biomechanical testing basic preliminary molecular biology studies, and equipment maintenance. The Research Associate will perform the specialized task of handling and caring for live rodents.
Qualifications:

Research Associate I: Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of research experience.

Research Associate II: Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years of research experience

Research Associate III: Bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years of research experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Animal experience.

Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology as a Histotechnician  (HT) or Histotechnologist  (HTL).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Prepares bone tissue sections for microscopic evaluation.

Prepares samples for cutting and staining.

Performs biomechanical testing such as 3-point bending, vertebral compression, and cyclic tibia compressive loading.

Manages samples submitted by investigators, and purchases supplies.

Performs equipment maintenance and quality control, data collection, and analysis.

Manages day-to-day Core operations.

Records all data in databases.

Maintains databases.

Coordinates online schedules for users.

Teaches histomorphometry reading, biomechanical testing, and imaging analysis using micro-CT, BMD, X-rays, and bioluminescence to Core users.

Assists with tissue harvest and Core inspections by biosafety or animal use committees.

Performs other duties as assigned.
