Summary of Job Duties:The Research Associate is expected to participate in research projects by conducting experiments with input, but minimal supervision, from the Principal Investigator (PI). The research projects will focus on understanding host response to infections, and experiments will include (1) basic molecular, virology, and cell biology experiments: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, real-time PCR, reverse transcription real-time PCR, protein purification, cloning, western blot, ELISA, aseptic tissue culture, immunofluorescence staining, infection (after training), and virus purification (after training).
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in science or related field plus four (4) years of research or research lab experience or

Bachelor's degree in science or related field plus six (6) years of research or research lab experience required ​

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic molecular biology, aseptic tissue culture experience.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Analyze experimental results, and present the results to the PI and other laboratory personnel.

Assist the PI with protocol building and submission/approval (e.g., IACUC and IBC).  

Responsible for general lab management such as keeping lab inventories, SOPs, placing orders, lab maintenance, and staff training.

Perform other duties as assigned.
