Research Associate II - Leukemia Research

The Department of Hematologic Malignancies Translational Science is looking for a Research Associate II to support research projects in the laboratory of Dr. Pamela Becker.  The Becker lab focuses on novel therapy of acute myeloid leukemia (e.g.-RNA therapeutics or new inhibitors) and drug resistance in blood cancers (e.g.-acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome) based on clinical features, mutations and gene expression, with use of high throughput functional screening/multicolor flow cytometry to directly assay drug response.

 

Experience and interest in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

·         Tissue culture with cell lines and primary cells

·         Molecular biology techniques including preparation of DNA, RNA for sequencing or other analysis

·         Experience managing multiple research projects

·         Western Blotting

·         Flow cytometry analysis and fluorescence activated cell sorting

·         Magnetic bead isolation devices

·         In vitro drug sensitivity assays

·         Generation and organization of laboratory research data

·         Familiarity with data analysis/statistics and graphics software

·         In vivo mouse models of leukemia

As a successful candidate, you will:

·         Perform a wide variety of standard repetitive but highly specialized experimental procedures and techniques required for research projects

·         Carry out in vitro experiments based on specified projects including examining new targeted therapies, genetic, and molecular biology techniques

·         Assist team with data collection and analysis, preparation of data for presentation, publication, and grant applications, and contribute to the completion of research project goals.

·         Ordering lab supplies and reagents, placing orders both on a routine and urgent basis, stocking and organizing the laboratory, and requesting equipment repairs/calibration as needed

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

·         Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology Cell Biology, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related field.  Masters preferred.

·         2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 1+ year related experience with a Master’s degree.
