Job DescriptionOBJECTIVES:
The Global Investigative Toxicology team is a cross-functional team of scientists that aim to detect and de-risk toxicity in Takeda’s portfolio to help make medicines safer and more effective. We are looking for a Research Associate Scientist to support these efforts across different platforms and modalities. The Research Associate Scientist will contribute ideas and deliver decision-making data to inform design and prioritization of different modalities in Takeda’s portfolio.
Work as part of a global team of safety assessment scientists to detect and de-risk toxicities associated with different therapiesDesign and implement early safety assessment screening strategies to enable the progression of optimized therapeutic candidates.Conduct cell-based in vitro assays to characterize toxicities, including immune-mediated toxicities, for medicines in discovery & development.Develop novel in vitro model systems to assess safety risks associated with new biologicals designs.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Develop, design, execute, and interpret in vitro cell-based assays to characterize diverse toxicities mechanisms of different modalities.Maintain cultures of immortalized tumor cell lines, primary cell types of various origin (lung, liver, kidney, intestine, pancreas, etc.). Ability to work with primary immune cells (T cells, B cells, NK cells, etc.) is a plus.Prepare experimental protocols, analyze experimental data, and present study results in team and department meetings.Contribute ideas to help assay development and optimization within investigative toxicology and with key collaborators.Document experimental methods and findings in electronic laboratory notebook.EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
MS. with 3+ years or BS. with 5+ years of experience in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, immunology, or a related discipline.Expert with standard aseptic cell culture technique, including experience culturing various tumor cell lines and primary cells. Broad experience with cell-based assays, including cytotoxicity, cytokine release, and immunophenotyping.Experience with imaging techniques including acquisition and data analysis of confocal microscopy and high-content imaging.Experience with molecular biology techniques including RNA/DNA extraction, q-PCR, or western blot.Experience with high-throughput screenings or automation is a plus.Experience working in a matrixed team environment at a pharmaceutical company and/or CRO.Basic knowledge of Cell Biology and Pharmacology is required. Previous experience with different drug modalities such as target protein degraders and biologics is preferred.Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.Ability to analyze, interpret and present research findings clearly and effectively at internal and external meetings.Ability to balance multiple projects and flexible with changing priorities.Highly collaborative with demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed team environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary

$96,600.00 - $151,800.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
