Job Summary
Annotators will use a web-based tool to label news articles and social media posts based on the type of framing that is being used. These annotations will be used to help evaluate AI models' abilities to detect and produce content that frames current events in various ways.
Responsibilities*Attend two live online training sessions to learn about the annotation task and frameworkUse an online interface to label text within news articles and social media posts based on the type of framing used (e.g., economic, political, etc.)Communicate regularly with graduate student research assistants (GSRAs) and professors managing the projectProvide feedback on the annotation experience when requestedRequired Qualifications*Current of University of Michigan undergraduate student in good academic standing or recently graduated from a UM undergraduate program and not currently enrolled in a graduate programAbility to work independently for a remote position using an online data annotation platform (requires access to computer with internet connection)Ability to attend online trainings via ZoomExcellent organization and written communication skillsDesired Qualifications*Background in political science, psychology, environmental science, communication, linguistics, journalism and/or artificial intelligenceRegular reader of news articles about topics such as climate change, medicine, and immigrationFamiliarity with a variety of social media platformsExperience with data annotation for AI model trainingHighly motivated to contribute to research seeking to improve information literacyModes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
